Context of the assignment
The Hy-SUCCESS project (Social, User aCCeptable, Economically Sustainable Systems for hydrogen) focuses on the socio-economic aspects of hydrogen and how these can contribute to a sustainable energy transition.
The transition to a future with large-scale use of green hydrogen requires more than just technical innovation. It is also important that there is support from society and that regulations and the economic climate are in line with this transition. That is why the HySUCCESS project of GroenvermogenNL is also investigating which socio-economic factors influence the possible role of green hydrogen in a sustainable energy system.
At the moment, within Hy-SUCCESS, we are investigating ways in which information about hydrogen and hydrogen projects in the Netherlands and Germany can be communicated in a clear way to the public and local stakeholders (for example the municipality or security services). As a first step, we are now collecting information about current and previous hydrogen projects and the general developments around hydrogen in the Netherlands and Germany. It is important to keep an eye on the different target groups that we want to reach.
We can use your help in mapping out the communication around hydrogen. Based on this, we will later develop and test information packages that are aimed at specific target groups. We will not only investigate what the most effective and relevant content is, but also which method of communication works best (film, interactive infographic, podcast, article, etc.) and for whom.
The final aim of the information packages is to:
1. To provide basic knowledge about the hydrogen transition, such as production, transport, storage and its costs and benefits for the energy transition.
2. To explain current developments in the Netherlands and Germany.
3. To show examples of existing or planned hydrogen projects, so that people become more familiar with those projects.
Testing the information packages helps to increase the knowledge of the public and local stakeholders. The effect of this information on the acceptance of hydrogen as a sustainable alternative is relevant here.
Assignment
In order to gain more insight into the communication about hydrogen, we first need more data. That is why we are looking for students who want to conduct research into the current communication about hydrogen.
Please note: always seek coordination with another group/duo that is working on an assignment for this client.
We are looking for students who can conduct an exploratory study on communication around hydrogen in Germany, and in particular in our border regions; what is the sentiment in the media there, how is communication done, which forms of communication are successful, are people in border regions confronted with communication from the Netherlands and Germany, and are there differences in this communication apart from language and context? What are the possible implications of this?
This assignment can be done in a group of 2 or 3 students.
