IT-Hub

Context of the assignment

An attractive region with well-educated IT talent and a flourishing business community that is ready for the future. That was the wish and thus the start of the IT Hub: the place where business, knowledge, innovation, talent and technology come together.

To achieve this, several organizations like TVM, Unigarant, the University of Groningen, NHL-Stenden University of Applied Sciences, Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, Alfa-college, Drenthe College, the municipality of Hoogeveen and the province of Drenthe joined forces and the IT Hub was created in 2022.

The IT Hub is a community where talent, innovation and digitalisation come together and where business and education strengthen each other. Within this community, IT Hub is a driving force, connector and facilitator, so that business, education and government can gain knowledge, learn and discover. In this way, the IT Hub contributes to the digitalisation of the region and we work together to develop and retain talent in the Northern Netherlands.

Assignment

To retain talent in the Northern Netherlands has been proven challenging. Many international talents choose IT education in the Netherlands, but many of these people return to where they came from after completing their studies. The IT Hub wants to entice students to stay here (in the (Northern) Netherlands) and they want to find out what these people need to stay (is it housing, a social community) and how they can communicate about this with the target group.

Some previous research has been done on this topic (reason to leave or stay in the Netherlands) and this can be used as a starting point for the new research. Based on the research, student can make recommendations and create a campaign plan. The exact assignment is to be shaped together with the students.

How do we reach the target group, we want to set something up: a program to keep this talent here. What is the reason they are returning? Job opportunities are important, what information should be brought to the fore.

This assignment can be done in a group of 3 - 4 students.
