Noorderruimte - Ostfriesland field labs

Naam Organisatie

Noorderruimte

Context of the assignment

Under the title Koepelproject Graanrepubliek Oldambt, the municipality of Oldambt is committed to strengthening broad prosperity in the region. By bundling existing and new initiatives, a stronger whole is created with more impact. Agriculture, heritage, tourism, education, the labor market and innovation are the spearheads of this ambitious program. Through so-called field labs, local parties work together on new products, ideas and connections that contribute to a sustainable future for Oldambt.

One of these field labs focuses on the preservation of heritage within the municipality of Oldambt: ‘Restoration, sustainability and repurposing of Oldambt farms’. Heritage can be used, for example, to increase the quality of an environment and can therefore be one of the means to attract and retain residents and businesses. In addition, it can fulfil more functions, for example that of a signboard, meeting place. Heritage as a signboard gives a region identity and creates, through the tourist and recreational income it generates, financial-economic value.

Assignment

Students International Communication can look at how organisations in the Netherlands and Germany that are involved in heritage/repurposing have organised their communication. What are the differences between organisations in the Netherlands and in Germany? What works? And how can we learn from each other? As an example, you have the Ostfriesische Landschaft (Ostfriesische Landschaft). They have a very nice website with a portal, shop, museum. Would something like this also be possible in Oldambt, for example? With this knowledge, the students will then work on the workshop that we want to give in December/January to German and Dutch parties.
