About the Organization
Many cities are facing challenges such as declining biodiversity, heat stress, flooding, and social isolation. Climate Quilts is an international research project that aims to transform neglected urban spaces into vibrant and biodiverse mini gardens.
Together with local residents, artists, researchers, and students from different study programmes, we design, build, and maintain a network (or “quilt”) of small gardens, each measuring 10 by 10 metres. Every garden is a unique co-design project where ecological design, climate adaptation, social interaction, and sustainable urban agriculture come together in creative ways.
By contributing to the development of these Climate Quilts and monitoring their ecological and social impact, you will not only help create greener neighbourhoods but also contribute to the development of future urban policies.
Assignment
Together with the project leader of this specific project, the final assignment will be determined. Possible contribution of IC students:
- Communication strategy: a strategic communication plan that defines target audiences, key messages, communication objectives, channels, and evaluation methods.
- Social Media Campaign: a campaign to raise awareness about Climate Quilts and encourage local residents to participate in the design and maintenance of the gardens.
- Campaign focussed on Storytelling: a series of stories featuring residents, students, and researchers to highlight the social and environmental impact of the project.
- Stakeholder Communication Plan; a plan to strengthen communication and collaboration with residents, local governments, community organisations, and educational institutions.
This assignment can be done in a group of 2-3 students.
