Terugkijken: 5G Seminar smart industry 'Game of Drones'

Op 18 februari organiseerde 5Groningen samen met de Rijksuniversiteit en de Digital Society Hub een seminar over 5G-toepassingen met drones. Hieronder kun je het seminar terugkijken.

Indoor navigation and control of autonomous vehicles in a smart logistics system

5G will be an enabler in smart industry appliances. Some examples are real time interconnection between machine, massive monitoring, edge computing. In this Smart Industry theme seminar we will present a use case of autonomous drones in an industrial environment and discuss the challenges and possibilities involved.

Programm

Business case of using autonomous drones in warehouses
Speaker: Arno Bruining CEO, Arox Smart Technologies

Arno Bruining will tell us more about the use of autonomous drones in warehouses. The technology of the 5th generation mobile technology enables drone technology to operate in innovate ways. Arox, a specialist in warehouse logistics, combines 5G and drone technology to create innovative solutions. We will dive into a current use case to see what they are up to!

Towards 5G-enabled real-time control of indoor collaborative autonomous vehicles
Speaker: prof. dr. ir. B. (Bayu) Jayawardhana

Bayu Jayawardhana will tell us about state-of-the-art on collaborative autonomous vehicles, which includes drones, mobile robots and cars and challenges that are faced when they are deployed in an indoor environment. We revisit the potential deployment of collaborative agents in smart factories, smart warehouse, smart logistics systems, smart greenhouse systems, all of which are of importance to the Dutch industry, and present the on-going activities in the use of 5G technologies for tackling these challenges through the use of edge computing.

Smart agents
Speaker K. (Kerstin) Bunte, PhD

Astonishing technological advances have been made over the last decade. Drones for large scale agricultural projects that survey the quality of soil providing GPS coordinates coupled with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid with detailed fertilization plans. And a small consumer size Quadcopters equipped with a GoPro that can follow a surfer catching a wave, recording a memorable video of the action. With all the advances made … why do we not see autonomous drones everywhere, helping with monitoring in different environments with their eagle eye view? Kerstin Bunte will give an overview of current challenges and novel possibilities in the light of 5G technology.
